I’m pretty sure I was more nervous going into these mentor sessions than these sweet girls claimed they were. Hoping I could give them their money’s worth. Wondering if they would learn as much as I hoped I could teach them. The list goes on. I felt confident after each session, knowing I had truly given my all. It wasn’t until I got their feedback that I realized I did my job well. Proud doesn’t cover it. I’m excited to be on this new journey of offering education. I’m even more freaking stoked that people want to learn from me.
After both mentorships, I scheduled a mini-session to practice what we talked over and to give each student an opportunity to get some hip, cool shots of some super fashionable babes. I couldn’t help but capture these gorgeous gals along side of my students.
Check out my education tab for more information. Please, please, please shoot me an email with any sort of questions if you are curious about an education session. Just take Ali and Marissa’s word for it. It’s baller.
“Kristen answered all of my questions plus some. She helped me with every aspect of photography that I was unsure about plus provided me with great tips on things to practice/do to make myself a more successful and efficient photographer.” -ali
“Girl, you bring it. Going in, I felt I would be intimidated to just be in your presence. I wasn’t, everything about you is what you see is what you get. Which I needed. I needed someone to walk me through a wedding day and what that consist of, I needed someone to help me on my editing and give constructive criticism with grace on where I can grow. I didn’t need to hear, “oh your doing good, just continue doing what your doing.” I didn’t need to hear “these are areas you are good at” and not touch on the areas that need growth. I will forever be thankful to you for being gracious in your critique and honesty, I needed that.” -marissa
“In my opinion you were successful in every area that matters to me. You were very professional yet very friendly. You made me feel as if we were friends, which made the entire session much more comfortable. You answered all of my questions and even made yourself available for longer to help me with editing. You gave great constructive criticism and never made me feel ignorant or ashamed for my mistakes. You even made yourself vulnerable by showing me your earliest work. That, more than anything else, reminded me that we all start somewhere and encouraged me that through continuos practice, my work will eventually become something of which I can be proud.” -ali
“I was nervous about the way the session was going to go simply because of other one-on-one photography classes that I have taken but you blew my expectations out of the water. You showed up on time, took time to start a conversation and get to know me over lunch, and then dove right into the education. You kept your attention on me for our entire session, never pulled out your phone or got distracted by anything else, and answered all of my questions to the fullest. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentoring session.” -ali
“Felt like I had known her forever, she just jumped right in with conversation and treating me just like another friend. No awkwardness, which I needed, since I can be awkward more than not.” -marissa
I’m pretty excited you’re here. I still get giddy when I post on here so take your time and really soak up every word and image I’ve thoughtfully published. Who knows maybe your life event will be up here next.
